Alaskans for

citizen voting

Take a Stand:

Defend Citizen Only Voting

ONLY CITIZENS. EVERY VOTE.

Across the nation, 14 states have taken action to guarantee citizen-only voting, and Alaska is ready to join them.

The language regarding voter qualifications states that a person MAY vote if they are a U.S. citizen (Sec. 15.05.010). This wording could be interpreted as not explicitly restricting the right to vote solely to U.S. citizens.

Alaskans for Citizen Voting is dedicated to preserving the fundamental principle that only United States citizens should have the right to vote in Alaska's state and local elections. Through a citizen-led initiative, we simply seek to clarify Alaska's election laws by adding to voter qualifications, “Only a person who is a citizen of the United States.”
